2 cups rolled oats, 1 cup sugar, 1 small cup coconut, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1/4 lb butter, few almonds (if liked), 1 tbsp. golden syrup.
Mix dry ingredients together, add butter (melted) and golden syrup (just warm). Press into flat dish, cut in squares when nearly cold. Cook until golden brown, about 15 mins.

Cornflake Tart
1 cup cornflakes, 1 cup rolled oats, 1 cup coconut, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 lb. butter or margarine, 1 dsp. honey.
Method: Melt butter, honey and sugar, pour over dry ingredients. Press into tin and bake in a very slow oven for 15 minutes.

Anzac Biscuits
One cup sugar, 1 cup cocoanut chips, 1 cup rolled oats, 1 cup S.R. flour. Put 2 tablespoons water, 1 tablespoon golden syrup, and 2 ozs butter in a saucepan and bring to boil. Then add 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. Pour over the dry ingredients while hot (care must be taken that it doesn't boil over), put teaspoonful of the mixture on greased slides and bake in slow oven 20 to 30 minutes.

Slice or Biscuits
4 ozs butter/margarine
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup Corn Flakes, crushed
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup 'bits' - chopped almonds, cherries, ginger, apricot, or anything else you fancy
1/2 cup sultanas
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
Method: Cream butter and sugar. Mix in rest of ingredients. If for slice press into Swiss roll tin - cook 180° for about 20 minutes.
Use for biscuits - make small balls and flatten slightly. Cook 180° for about 15 minutes or till cooked.

Muesli Scones
1 cup SR flour
1 cup Muesli
TONE skim milk
Method: Mix dry ingredients and add sufficient milk to produce a scone dough. Heat lightly greased frypan to 175°C. Place spoonfuls of scone mix in pan, cover and reduce temperature to 150°C. Cook for about 10 minutes or until tops are smooth, not moist. Turn scones to brown the base. These are delicious served hot and require no additions. Served with fresh fruit, or fruit juice, Muesli Scones provide a quick and complete breakfast.

125g bran, unprocessed
4 Tblsp buckwheat
4 Tblsp sunflower seeds
250g dried fruits
Method: Mix all together and store in air-tight containers.

Cheese and Jam Slice
1 & 1/2 cups plain flour
1/2 tspn baking powder
1/2 tspn salt
1 & 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
6 oz butter
4 oz tasty cheddar cheese, grated
3 tabspns apricot jam
Method: Sift flour, baking powder and salt, add next two ingredients. Work in butter till mixture is crumbly. Put half in greased 7" x 11" slab tin. Spread with jam and top with cheese. Press rest of mixture firmly over top. Bake in moderate oven 35-40 mins. Cut into slices whilst hot.

Mock Nougat Bars
1 cup rolled oats, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup SR flour, 1 cup coconut, 1 Tbls golden syrup 4 oz melted butter, 1 egg.
Method: Mix all dry ingredients together, add melted butter, syrup and lightly beaten egg. Mix well. Spread in greased tin and bake in slow oven 20-30 mins. Ice with chocolate icing.

Economy Meat Loaf
1 lb. finely minced beef steak
1/4 lb. diced bacon
1 cup rolled oats
1 egg
1/4 chopped onion
1 cup cooked tomatoes (can use tinned ones with juice drained off)
1 tspn. salt
1/4 tspn. pepper
1 tspn. mixed mustard
Method: Beat the egg and combine with all the other ingredients, mixing thoroughly. Pack into greased and crumbed ovenware dish and bake in a moderate oven 1 hour. Eat hot or cold.

Matrimonials
1&1/2 cups S.R. Flour
185 gr. (6 ozs.) Butter or Margarine
1/2 cup Rolled Oats
1 cup Coconut
1 cup Brown Sugar
Raspberry jam, warmed slightly
Method:
Sift flour, cut butter into small pieces and rub into flour until mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add rolled oats, coconut and sugar, and stir until thoroughly mixed in.
Divide into halves, put one half into greased 28 x 18 cm (11" x 7") lamington tin, firmly pressing flat. Pour warmed jam over, covering surface, spreading evenly.
Sprinkle rest of mixture over jam, covering it, and bake in moderately hot oven about 30 minutes. Let cool slightly in tin, then cut into slices and loosen edges. Leave until cold before removing from tin.

Florencia Fingers
3 oz. butter
2 tablespoons Golden Syrup
1 oz. mixed peel chopped
1 oz. glace cherries
4 oz. rolled oats

1 oz. walnuts or almonds chopped
1/2 cup flour (wholemeal plain if possible)
Method: Melt butter and syrup. Add oats, peel, cherries and nuts and flour. Mix thoroughly. Press into 7" square tin. Bake 20-30 minutes, 360F. When cool, top with 4 oz. cooking chocolate melted with 1 oz. copha.

All-Bran Anzacs
1 cup All-Bran
1 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup SR flour
1/2 cup coconut
1/2 cup castor sugar
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
4 ozs. [125 gm.] butter, melted
1 tablespoon honey
Method: Add butter and honey to dry ingredients and mix until well combined. (Mixture will appear dry and crumbly.) Place tablespoons of mixture onto greased oven trays. Allow room for spreading. Bake in a moderate oven, 180C to 190C (350F to 375F) for 10 minutes or until golden brown. (Makes 24)

British Mince
2 tbspn beef dripping or cooking fat
2 small onions, minced (or chopped finely)
1.1/2 lbs mince
2 cups beef bouillon (stock cube)
1 tbspn uncooked oatmeal (rolled oats)
salt
freshly ground pepper
Method: Heat the beef dripping in a heavy saucepan. Add the onions and cook stirring constantly until the onions are soft and golden. Add the meat and brown it, stirring constantly to prevent lumping. Stir in the beef bouillon, the oatmeal and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer, covered over low heat for about 30mins. Serve on toast or with mashed potatoes or boiled noodles.
